The sweatlodge is one of several ceremonies dedicated to cleaning and renewal and to be found all over the world.
Sweatlodge is an indigenous natural steam sauna with hot stones and serves the cleansing and strengthening of the body and the mind as a holistic experience. Effective herbs and resins strengthen the healing powers and connect man with nature. The heat inside is pleasant and relaxing with a very high humidity. The Lakota call it inipi and the Aztecs temazcal. Sweatlodges are performed in North- and Mesoamerika. It can also be found in traditional Germany as a tyrolean peasant bath and ancient greec and roman culture as caldarium. In Japan this traditional bath is called sento.
